Marshland Fraits, also known as Infectum Lacerti, are a species of small amphibians that have lived on Eden for a suspected 300,000 years and are common in marshlands across Eden. They eat a diet of mainly small fish and lizards, although they have been reported to even eat land mammals that are unfortunate to get stuck in the swamps. These creatures are similar to catfish in the way they grow, in that they won’t stop growing unless the food source depletes, and are detrimental to ecosystems. The creatures when first born measure around 2 inches in length and weigh around 20 grams. Some Fraits have been reported to have grown as large as 30ft long! The Frait has been known to take shelter underneath logs and debris floating in rivers and will use the current as a way to catch fish with their net-like hands. These amphibians will also commonly create little habitats under logs, and can even clog rivers similarly to a beaver, with only one hole leading straight to the Frait’s mouth, and the fishes’ unfortunate demise. Some Fraits have been reported to live as far away as Earth, where they have hitched a ride in a ship’s cooling system, and into rivers and swamps. A council has been made in an attempt to find a solution to this ever-increasing problem, as fraits lead to fish and other marine life populations going down. If a Frait managed to make its way to the oceans of Eden or Earth, it could grow to an enormous size. And as a way to stop this problem, dams and gates have been put in place at all major estuaries in Eden, but other plants have yet to find many solutions to this disaster. One other contributing factor to this, is the Frait’s ability to breed. Frait’s can have babies in groups of hundreds (frequently around 100), and they can breed only at the age of 4 in human years, up until they are nearly 50 years old, with only a 6 month gestation period. Once the math is done, that is equal to nearly 950~ babies in their lifetime. luckily though, breeding of Fraits is illegal, and can lead to up to 30 years in jail. most babies don’t survive, but the ones that do continue to breed and multiply endlessly.
